Introduction

Welcome to iPod SMS! iPod SMS provides an immediate, cost effective and simple way to communicate to and from your iPod using SMS. iPod SMS lets you send and receive text messages.

iPod SMS

iPod SMS uses a simple messaging API to send SMS messages and get lists of recently sent and received messages. For more information on Bulletins simple messaging API see the API documentation.

Signing Up for iPod SMS

What you need:

In order to sign up for iPod SMS, you will need a valid, functioning mobile handset capable of sending and receiving SMS messages. We use this for verification.

To sign up for iPod SMS go to http://www.bulletinonline.net/promo/touch2txt.

Select your country from the drop down box, the currency field will change accordingly. Enter your name, valid email address and your mobile number in international format.

Mobile Number.

If you do not enter your mobile number in international format, we will not be able to verify your account.

When you have completed the fields, enter the code shown at the bottom of the page and tap the Sign Up! button.

An SMS message will be sent to the mobile number provided. You will need to reply to this message with the word confirm. You will then receive an SMS message containing your Username and Password. You may want to write these details down.

Logging in

To login to iPod SMS, go to http://www.bulletin.net/touch2txt and tap Settings. Enter your Username and Password and tap Done.

Tapping on the New Account button will take you to http://www.bulletinonline.net/promo/touch2txt.

Sending a Message

To send a message tap the New button in the top right corner of any page. Enter the recipients phone number in international format, enter the message and tap the Send button.

Message Lists

Viewing sent and received messages

Tapping on Sent Messages will show a summary list of messages you have sent.

Tapping on Received Messages will show a summary list of messages you have received.

Tapping on a message in either of these lists will show the message in detail.

Status Codes

Each message in your sent and received message list includes a status field.

Depending on the Network the messages are sent to, some of the following Status messages may or may not appear.

RECEIVED The message has been received by the mobile
UNREACHABLE The message could not be delivered to the mobile. Check the number is correct and in International Format.
SENT The message has been sent to the network for delivery
NOT RECEIVED The message could not be delivered to the mobile. This may not be a permanant error so try again if you are sure of the number
EXPIRED The message could not be delivered within five days, and has been expired
REJECTED The message has not been sent
NO FUNDS The message has not been sent. You must increase your available funds by depositing money or requesting a line of credit
Message Charges
Your service provider reserves the right to charge for all messages sent via the system regardless of the delivery status.

Topping up your account

Once your account balance has reached zero you will not be able to send messages any more so you will have to top up your account.

To do this tap Settings and tap the Add Credit button. This will open a new browser window.

You will need to enter your username and password and tap the Login button. This will take you to the My Account page. Tap the Make a Payment button and fill out the form provided (payments may be made through PayPal or by credit card).

Add iPod SMS to Home Screen

If you your iPod Touch is running software version 1.1.3 (with Software Upgrade), you can add iPod SMS to your home screen.

Using Safari, browse to http://www.bulletin.net/touch2txt. When the page has loaded tap the + at the bottom of the screen, tap Add to Home Screen, rename to iPod SMS and tap Add.

The following icon will appear on your Home Screen:

A single tap on this icon will take you directly to iPod SMS.
